“Ascending into the Endless” is the debuting collection of Decipher and puts a strong foot forward. It aims to set the standards straight : it does not fall into the temptation of using basic themes or masking lack of thought and effort through common, trendy generalisations. Instead, it focuses on research, on a concept and thinks it through, pieces it together and reshuffles it all over again till the desired result is achieved.
It takes inspiration from Constantin Brancusi- a remarkable sculptor and personality and focuses mainly on the “Endless Column” and one of his quotes : “What is essential is not the appearance, but the essence of things”. It always revolves around the questions : what is the essence, how can such a pure, well-protected/ hidden element be shown or is it already there just codified ?
“The Column” stands for much more than it was initially commissioned for, it is as much of an homage to the Romanian soldiers fallen in WWI as it is representing the idea of “human continuity and of time as a sequence of generations” , of “Axis Mundi”.
Here these notions are envisioned through the angular figures and even the number of certain details alluding to the 16 complete rhomboids of the sculpture. Meanwhile the “essence” is depicted through the gentle, clear cut-outs, and the deliberate placement of what stays normally inside- the lining, on the outer part. “Ascending into the endless” aims to wrap the wearer in conceptualism, heritage without ceasing to be modern and bold.
